Psychotherapy Norfolk - Counselling Norfolk

Having practiced for the last 15 years in London only, Pete Kerridge has now opened a new practice in Ipswich. Counselling Norfolk is based close to the centre of Ipswich and is easily accessible by train or by car and on-road parking is available. Pete is an extremely experienced and highly trained therapist and has worked both in private practice and has been the Head of Department of two London university counselling and mental health services. At Psychotherapy Norfolk Pete offers the same high levels of service and expertise as is offered at his Harley Street clinic with the benefit of being much more accessible to those in the East Anglia region.

Because of the breadth of his training and experience, At Norfolk Psychotherapy Pete is able to offer a tailored approach to his clients. Different clients have their own unique personalities and will arrive with their own unique set of difficulties, and it is the job of the therapist to accurately assess the nature of the client’s problem and suggest a way of working that will not only be the most effective for addressing their problem, but that will also take into consideration the person’s particular personality. The most common approaches implemented at Counselling Norfolk will include Gestalt Counselling and Psychotherapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), CBT Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and Mindfulness Training.

Pete Kerridge sees the relationship between the client and the therapist as of core importance to the success of any therapy and one that needs to be collaborative in nature. Both client and therapist need to be ‘on board’ with an agreed way of working towards what the client wants, using an approach that whilst might be suggested by the therapist, needs to make sense to the client and give them the feeling that this is a useful and constructive way for them to work towards what they are wanting to achieve. At Psychotherapy Norfolk, whilst the client will always be fully supported, with the therapist suggesting possible ways to proceed, ultimately the client is always in control of the session and as such is encouraged to participate as much as possible in their treatment planning choices.
